Illness or Injury at School
If your child becomes sick or injured during the school day, you or the person you have designated will be notified by phone. The school nurse will administer first aid if needed. If you cannot be reached or if the situation appears to be an emergency, family or school doctors will be called and the student will be taken to the hospital. Your child will not be sent home unless the school can reach you, a person you designate or another family member who can arrange to be home when the child arrives.
If a student is diagnosed as having a contagious disease or condition that can easily spread, the school nurse will notify the parents of students with whom they may have been in contact and assist in recommending necessary treatment. Tutoring services during an extended illness (generally two weeks or longer) may be arranged through the school.
Student Accident Insurance
If your child experiences an accidental injury during school or a school activity, you may file a student accident insurance claim to assist with medical bills not covered your family's insurance policy or to cover limited expenses if your family does not have an accident insurance policy. The student accident insurance program does not guarantee 100% coverage.
For more information about student accident insurance claims, contact your school's nurse.
